Playing By Their
Rules is a trap.
And for us feminists and anti-capitalists, we can feel it in our bones. Trying to shove your glorious square peg booty into our toxic society’s round hole is not a path towards liberation, but your inner GPS can direct you to a path that is.
Hi! I’m Kristi Amdahl.
I’m a Wayfinder Master Coach,
Women’s Circle Facilitator,
and Staunch Anti-Capitalist.
Up until recently, I’ve been quite mum on the whole anti-capitalist part of my identity because I worried about alienating those who might otherwise be drawn to my work. But anti-capitalism has shaped who I am and how I’ve been showing up in the world since 1998, and as I watch the world around me burn, I’m feeling called to step into greater integrity with who I am.
Late last year, my soul made a parallel request—it called on me to OWN MY ANGER. During a powerful coaching session, I discovered that I’d been repressing my rage towards capitalism, the patriarchy, and a host of other travesties for DECADES.
My guitar revealed itself to be a portal for this rage. Sacred rage. And claiming that changed everything.
Importantly, it shifted how I coach—from strict adherence to ICF standards to something more resonant. It dissolved my desire to focus my energies on building a ‘six-figure’ business that could fully support me in our capitalist world, and replaced it with a devotion to sharing my truth. As an anti-capitalist, this alone brought me into deeper alignment with my true nature.
It has also inspired a new powerful new line of offers—potent blends of Wayfinding and Circling—which I’m calling CATALYSTS. Because that’s what they are: initiations into a new way of BEing.
Diving into my guitar—the portal to my sacred rage—has opened up a whole new channel of Spirit and illuminated for me the path of fierce love. My friend, I’m just getting started.
You're a Kind, Awakened
Gen X or Millennial Feminist…
and Likely an Anti-Capitalist.
You’re probably feeling stuck, navigating change, and/or overwhelmed by the latest news headline. You see through the façade of ‘The Dream’ and yearn for a better world.
You want a trained guide in your corner who gets it in their bones that you don’t want to focus your energies at ‘winning’ this thoroughly rotten (and rigged) system while the rest of humanity burns.
You want to thrive, to explore your creativity, to not feel constant dread about the state of the world. And you want to focus on doing the things that will bring you true fulfillment, peace, and freedom.
You recognize that our system is rotten and that you are sick and tired of willingly participating in it, all the while recognizing that you benefit from some of its rottenness. So now what?
1 - You Wayfind with a master coach who understands the conflict generated by living out of integrity with who you truly are (despite oppressive systems and even family gaslighting you that it’s ‘normal’).
2 - You disengage from capitalism where you can, ‘be the change’ by living in integrity with who you truly are, and invite more creativity and curiosity into your life. There’s more, but that’s a good start!
“We will often use the fear of others FREAKING OUT as a convenient excuse not to be ourselves. It’s tricky because we think we’re being considerate, gracious, and respectful, but actually, we’re not being honest.
These are moments when we water ourselves down and put ourselves into a box of ‘normal’ or ‘expected,’ forgetting we’re actually wild and unable to be contained. We’re withholding the best and brightest parts of who we are—from ourselves, from those we love, and ultimately from the world.”
— Lael Couper Jepson
Some spillover effects of Wayfinding...
bYproducts
01 | Confidence
One of Wayfinding’s tenets is to get your inner GPS’s take on things. Once you learn how to access it—and there are many fool-proof ways to do this—it’s going to blow your mind just how trustworthy it is! The more you lean into it and use it to guide you, and the freer you will feel from doing it, the more your true confidence will grow—no affirmations or decision-making hacks required.
02 | Creativity
Creativity and curiosity are a Wayfinder's best friends when things don't go as planned. They're also some of the most useful approaches for 'finding your purpose' (as if it were actually 'lost'), getting unstuck, and moving through liminal spaces. Creativity and curiosity are like magical unicorns because they rescue us from our analytical minds and transport us into consciousness and flow.
03 | Alignment
Integrity is about undivided wholeness. The fastest way to transform your life is to live in integrity—in deep alignment—with who you truly are. This is not for the faint of heart. It is simultaneously the easiest and hardest thing you will ever do. But if you want to free yourself from culture’s vice grip and navigate these crazy times without selling your soul, living in integrity is non-negotiable.
Credentials & Skills Matter. So do intuition, integrity & Experience.
My extensive Training, Education, Lived Experience, & Inner GPS Guide My Work.
In a time when everyone is calling themselves a coach, it's hard to know who has the integrity to be of genuine service to your deepest vision and dreams. A lot of coaches will try to sell you the solution that worked for them, but will it actually work for you? And is it even aligned? The promises hawked by some coaches are steeped in capitalist and patriarchal values—values that they may personally embody but that may not align with yours. Wayfinding with an anti-capitalist feminist like me is different.
I've spent 400 hours training under Martha Beck and her mentor coaches to become a certified Wayfinder Master Coach and ICF-credentialed coach. I have a B.S. in economics and studied applied economics in graduate school, and my education has informed some of my responses to late-stage capitalism. I’ve also LIVED in the trenches of direct action many moons ago and have spent 27+ years navigating life as a Wayfinder, and it’s this unique blend of professional, academic, and street credentials that qualifies me to deliver on my promise to help you live in integrity with who you truly are and create the life your soul yearns for…while flipping the bird to capitalism and patriarchy.
WHO I AM BEYOND
THE ZOOM ROOM

I’m a HSP, and as is the case with most highly sensitive humans, nature grounds me.
Walking barefoot in the grass or on a clay-rich, soil-packed trail does something to my spirit, and so you'll usually find me sans shoes when I'm outdoors. You may also find traces of pine sap on my cheek or in my hair, as connecting with and leaning into conifer trees feeds my spirit in a way that few things do. Pretty much any experience in nature simultaneously grounds me and inspires awe.
Meditation also grounds me.
I've been meditating—sometimes daily, sometimes sporadically—since 2013. Meditation was one of the most important actions I took to navigate through a particularly grueling dark night of the soul, and I can attest to the power of silent sits. [Side note: I once trained to teach meditation and pranayama (yogic breath work).]
Journaling also grounds me.
Sometimes my guides show up when I'm journaling. It's always so clear to me when it happens, and their presence grounds me deeply. Also, the mere act of 'thinking with my pen' helps me to feel less flighty and more grounded. I don't currently have a writing practice like Morning Pages, though I have in the past. But I often write in the early morning hours by lantern light, where the insights that come are as illuminating as the flame.

Mama Earth and her incredible capacity to restore balance when left to her own devices.
Humans who choose the path of integrity over 'The [American] Dream'.
‘Weeds’ that sprout in sidewalk cracks.
Clay. I can't explain it, but I'm inexplicably drawn to it. Just the act of centering a mound of clay on a potter’s wheel leaves me feeling One with clay…and with the Cosmos.
Humans who refuse to bypass difficult experiences by 'loving and lighting' or ‘distracting’ them away and who are instead willing to sit in liminal—and angry!—spaces from a place of curiosity.
Humans who embody integrity, who don't 'other' people they don't like, and who are willing to be wrong.
Marginalized or less-privileged humans who have chosen to share their experiences with and educate their more privileged sisters, brothers, and kin. It’s not lost on me that this is a tremendous gift…and that it can be extremely exhausting work. #thankyou
Humans who lead with and embody love.
Women who have mastered the art of liberating their rage while remaining an embodiment of love. Fierce love.
What doesn't inspire me?
Wealth. When I see wealth flaunted, I am reminded of that scene in Schindler's List where at the end, Schindler comes undone because had he sold more of his possessions, he could have saved more Jews from the gas chambers. That being said, I would absolutely LOVE to work with mind-bogglingly wealthy humans who have reached a higher level of consciousness and long to use their resources in humble, non-performative ways that are in true service to humanity and Mama Earth.
Status. If I found myself at a table with Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey or some fancy world leader, I would relate to them the same way I relate to you. That is, respectfully but as a peer. I have no time for ‘othering’ anyone, nor will I ever bow down to anyone.
Power. Same deal ^.

I believe in myself. I believe in YOU. I believe that you carry the answer to every question you long to have answered. I believe that when you live in alignment with who you truly are, you will live the most fulfilling, purpose-driven, and joyful life imaginable. I believe that women are masters at repressing our anger—to the point where we’re no longer aware that it even exists—and we’ve got to change that without poisoning ourselves in the process. I believe that capitalism is a thoroughly rotten, irredeemable system. I believe that colonialism, white supremacy, and the patriarchy are equally rotten. I believe in the power that women’s circles hold to elevate our collective consciousness. I believe that all life is sacred. I believe that the world would be a much more beautiful place if women and humans with balanced masculine and feminine energies ran the show. I believe in synchronicities, spirt guides, and past lives. I believe in all humans' capacity to change, be it through their own will, a catalytic event, or Divine intervention. I believe in a loving and benevolent Universe, cosmic Love, or God—they're all the same to me. I believe that climate change is a grave, existential threat. I believe that Big Ag, pesticides, and factory farms need to be abolished. I believe that all humans are equal; that not a single human on this planet it above another. I believe in far too many things to list here…

I cherish the early morning hour and fiercely protect it (and my solitude). I start my day in darkness in silent meditation. I then light my lantern—I just can’t stand artificial light before the sun rises!—and steep some herbal tea (and sometimes ceremonial cacao purchased through Soul Lift Cacao). I then spend time reading, reflecting, or journaling until I discover that it’s bright enough to extinguish my lantern. #soexquisite

From my 300-hour teacher training mentor: "I loved the theme and how she was really 'living it' as she shared her story. Her vibe was informed and wise, and I could feel her vulnerability. I feel that she's called to be the practitioner's teacher." —Adi Shakti, Founder of Soul Work
Okay, that’s all I’ve got.

As mentioned, I am both an economist (by education) AND a staunch anticapitalist. My transition from being a mindless ‘cog in the machine’ to adopting strong anticapitalist sentiments began in 1998, when I forayed into environmental activism.
In the nearly 30 years since, it hasn’t always been at the forefront of my mind. And yet even during its greatest periods of dormancy, the niggling knowing that capitalism is exploitative as hell, is rotten to its core, and runs contrary to human nature has remained omnipresent.
I wrote a highly abridged backstory about my history as an anticapitalist (if you can call it a history?) in the form of a blog post. Click here to read that post.

MY TEACHERS

My development as a coach came primarily from Martha Beck and her team of Wayfinder Master Coach Mentors and Instructors, but it was also heavily influenced by Margaret G. Margaret, the weekly work we did together for seven years—and during some of the darkest nights of my soul—has deeply impacted my life in ways too numerous to count, and I am forever grateful for your sponsorship, kindness, and compassionate way of moving through the world. Today, I do my best to bring this presence to the women I work with. Thank you.
Though very new to my world, Lael Couper Jepsen has already had a significant impact on my work. My Flash Coaching Session with her, plus her two fantastic books (Unscripted and Ignite), her speaking engagements, and her writing container In Her Words have catalyzed a shift in how I both show up in the world and work with others. I honestly cannot fully wrap my head around just how or why Lael has had this depth of an effect on me, but who fucking cares. She came into my life at just the right time, and now I can’t imagine where I’d be had she not. So thank you, Lael, sister goddess.

I sat in my first sister circle 25(ish) years ago, and had it not been for Flo, Tree, Sky, and Madi, I may never have begun calling my own. My own foray into guiding circles began in a 12-Step recovery program (c. 2007-2011).
Though the circles I facilitate today are not 12-Step circles, my approach to circling has been influenced by them. Namely, we collectively read our Circling Agreements (in 12-Step circles, the parallel is reading the 12 Traditions), I offer a reading, and then we take turns sharing based on the reading or whatever is on our hearts and minds. No one speaks over another person or offers advice of any kind.
Though I started calling women’s circles without any formal training, I have since taken trainings and have been influenced in one way or another by them. Of note, Chris Maddox, founder of The Wild Woman Project, is a gem of a woman and her Circle Leader Training is wonderful and intimate. I highly recommend it! And, I’m currently enrolled in Becca Piastrelli’s Circle Craft training. Having offered readings from her beautiful book Root & Ritual to my own circles, and having taken her workshop on crafting rites of passage, I am excited to see how her work might shift my own circle work.
A final shoutout to Adi Shakti, founder of SoulWork, as it was in her containers that I learned about trauma-informed facilitation, trained in guiding breath work and meditation, and deepened my group facilitation skills.
Others who have influenced my circling (or who have planted seeds for future programming) include Jean Shinoda Bolen (her book The Millionth Circle has inspired countless sisters across the globe), Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ masterpiece Women Who Run With the Wolves, Danielle Dulsky’s workshops and books (OMG), Global Sisterhood, and so many others.
